Mes balades photo

Hello friends!... And welcome to this page of which I am still thinking about the style  I should use in designing it. One thing is sure, I will be updating it regularly -because I'm fond of photography!- to share with you my "unique" life of dreamy humanitarian and traveler.

As the title says it "Mes balades photos" (this can be translated as "My photography roamings" in english), this is basically going to be a space where I will share images from my several trips throughout and out of Mali, my current country of residence. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be travelling a lot with my job, so I try to make the maximum of enriching and interesting findings out of them.

I also decided to post this page in English to keep in touch with my English readers that I would like to be in contact with in a way or another through this blog.

Let's start with Segou, a city 235 km far from Bamako, the capital city of Mali. The first thing that stroke me when I stepped in the town was the peace and quiet feeling along the Niger river. Yea, the city lies beautifully along the river which runs through height main cities of Mali. Segou uses to be sweet peaceful place for visitors who are just looking for rest and relaxing area. Segou is located in the south-central and is the last big town before Bamako when travelling from northern Mali. The city is also known as "the kingdom of Bambaras", one of the biggest ethnic groups in Mali. It hosts every year in February a famous music festival called "Festival sur le Niger".

Segou hosted and still hosts many internally displaced people who fled the conflict and occupation of northern Mali cities by armed insurgents in 2012. Indeed, some displaced people have now returned to their homes but some also decided to remain and try to build a new life in the city. I guess they may have been seduced by the same quietness and the way of living in general. Personally, not being a fan of life in big cities, each of my stays in Segou were absolutely enjoyment, enriching and discovery times.
Below here I share with you the stunning view of the Niger river taken a morning two years ago, just before breakfast and day briefing. And I was standing from the terrace of "Hotel Esplanade".
